Planet-X Beginner's Guide: How to Start, Survive, and Extract
By Murtagh9050 • Updated September 2026
Planet-X is a mobile extraction game. You drop into a hunt, scan for crates that contain prizes, and then get out through an extraction rocket before other players or the clock stop you. If you don't extract, you don't keep what you found.
This guide takes you from installing the game to finishing your first hunts. It's written for people who haven't played yet, or have played once or twice and want to stop losing their loot.

The Basics in 60 Seconds
-
The goal: find a prize and extract with it. Kills don't matter if you don't get out.
-
Crates: where prizes are. You find them with your scanner.
-
Extraction rocket: you go to one, enter a code, and claim your prize.
-
Elixir: the energy that powers scanning, shooting, gadgets, your hoverboard, and your shield. Your bar holds 100.
-
Your day-one aim: survive and extract once. Don't try to win fights.

How a Hunt Works
Every hunt follows the same loop:
-
Deploy onto the map.
-
Scan for crates.
-
Move and manage elixir while avoiding threats.
-
Find a prize.
-
Go to an extraction rocket, enter the code, and claim it.
-
Leave. Repeat next hunt.
The part that trips up beginners is step 5. Extraction rockets attract fights, because everyone with a prize is heading to one. Don't assume you're safe just because you can see the rocket. See What Happens If You Don't Extract and the Extraction guide.
Your First Match
-
Pick a Beginner-Friendly Area: Stick to less crowded zones to avoid early deaths. Typically the edges of the map or away from extraction rockets can be safer.
-
Equip Basic Gear: Start with what the game gives you; don’t overthink it.
-
Focus on Survival: Move slowly, check surroundings, and avoid unnecessary fights. Watch out at extraction, there is a lot of fighting there!
-
Find Extraction Rocket: Always know where you’re heading — getting lost is the #1 newbie mistake.
Tip: Treat your first match as a practice run. Every death teaches you something.
Quick Beginner Tips
-
Stay Calm: Panicking leads to mistakes.
-
Listen to Sounds: Gunfire and environmental cues are key.
-
Use Cover: Always find cover when enemies are nearby.
Tip: Keep an eye on the scanner — it alerts you when crates are nearby.
