Planet-X Gadgets Guide

Gadgets are special abilities that can give you a tactical advantage during a match in Planet-X. They can be used for defense, mobility, deception, visibility, and tracking enemies.

Unlike items that are simply picked up and used once, gadgets are selected before a match as part of your loadout. Once equipped, a gadget can be used multiple times during a match. Each gadget has its own cooldown period, meaning you can use it again after waiting for its cooldown to expire.

This makes gadgets an important part of your overall strategy. The right gadget can help you survive an encounter, escape from danger, locate nearby enemies, or create an opportunity to make a play.

Current Planet-X Gadgets

Five gadgets in Planet-X you can choose from.

There are currently five gadgets available in Planet-X:

Each gadget serves a different purpose, so choosing one for your loadout should depend on how you prefer to approach a match.

Ground Shield

The ground sheild protects you from enemy fire in Planet-X.

The Ground Shield creates a protective shield around you that cannot be penetrated by enemies. While you are inside the shield, enemy players cannot shoot through it to hit you. But, you can still shoot out of the Ground Shield, allowing you to attack enemies while remaining protected from their shots.

This makes the Ground Shield particularly useful when an engagement suddenly turns against you. Instead of immediately having to retreat, you can deploy the shield and create a protected position from which you can continue fighting.

Because gadgets can be used repeatedly, the Ground Shield can become an important part of your combat strategy throughout a match. Its cooldown determines how quickly you can rely on it again, so using it at the right moment is important.

Reposition Chip

The reposition chip allows you to teleport on command.

The Reposition Chip is a mobility gadget that lets you establish a location you can return to later.

When activated, you throw the chip onto the ground. At a later point, you can teleport back to the location where the chip was placed. This gives you the ability to create your own escape point or establish a route back to an important location.

The Reposition Chip can be particularly powerful when entering an area where you expect trouble. You can place the chip somewhere safe before moving forward, then teleport back to it if the situation becomes dangerous.

It can also be used for travel. If you need to reach an important point on the map, placing a chip beforehand gives you the option of quickly returning to your original position.

Decoy

The decoy confuses your enemy.

The Decoy creates a copy of yourself that moves around randomly, giving enemy players another target to worry about.

The goal is simple: create enough uncertainty that an enemy cannot immediately determine which character is the real player. A well-timed Decoy can cause an opponent to hesitate, reveal their position, waste ammunition, or pursue the wrong target.

The Decoy can also be useful when trying to escape an engagement. Deploying it before moving away can give an enemy something else to focus on while you reposition.

Its effectiveness depends heavily on timing. The more believable the situation is, the more likely an opponent is to react to the Decoy before realizing that it isn't you.

Smoke Bomb

The smoke bomb impaires vision.

The Smoke Bomb creates a large cloud of smoke when it detonates, obscuring the surrounding environment and making it much more difficult for players to see what is happening.

Smoke can be used to break an enemy's line of sight, allowing you to move without being clearly visible. It can also create confusion during an engagement by making it difficult for opponents to determine exactly where you are or where you are moving.

Because the Smoke Bomb affects the surrounding area rather than simply protecting your character, it can be useful in a variety of situations. You might use it to escape an enemy, cross an exposed area, or create an opportunity to reposition during a fight.

Like the other gadgets, the Smoke Bomb can be used again after its cooldown expires, so knowing when to spend it and when to save it for a more important moment can make a significant difference.

Tracer Drone

The tracer drone tracks down your target.

The Tracer Drone is an information-focused gadget that scans the immediate area around you for enemy players.

When activated, it checks the area surrounding your position and alerts you if enemies are detected nearby. Once an enemy is identified, you can use that information to track them and decide whether you want to engage or avoid them.

This makes the Tracer Drone particularly useful when entering an area where you aren't sure whether other players are nearby. Rather than moving blindly into a potentially dangerous situation, you can use the scan to gather information first.

The Tracer Drone can also be used offensively. If enemies are detected, you can use the information to track them down and attempt to eliminate them.

For players who prefer to gather information before committing to a fight, the Tracer Drone provides a valuable advantage.

Choosing Your Gadget

There isn't one gadget that is best for every situation. Each one provides a different type of advantage.

The Ground Shield is focused on protection and gives you the ability to fight while protected from incoming fire. The Reposition Chip provides mobility and can give you a reliable way to return to a previous location. The Decoy is designed around deception and confusing opponents. The Smoke Bomb controls visibility and can help you break line of sight. The Tracer Drone provides information by detecting nearby enemies.

Because gadgets are selected as part of your loadout before entering a match, your choice should complement the way you want to play. A player who likes taking direct fights may value the Ground Shield, while someone who prefers mobility or tracking enemies may get more value from the Reposition Chip or Tracer Drone.

And because gadgets have cooldowns rather than being single-use items, learning when to use your gadget and when to save it is just as important as choosing the right one.
